Stag hunting was a noble amusement and one of the favourite hobbies of lords in the past. In the 18th century, tapestries were very often woven with those scenes. This tapestry represents a hunting halt in the Forest of Compiègne in North of Paris. Horsemen prepare the pack of stag hounds to the sound of hunting horns. This hunting scene was created by the famous French animal painter, Jean-Baptiste Oudry.
