From an original tapestry from William Morris (1836-1896) woven towards 1890. This scene symbolizes the Quest for the Unicorn by King Arthur’s legendary twenty four Knights. The lion represents the most courageous knights who, having hung their shields in the woods, have set out to seek the Unicorn, a mythical creature of the middle Age.
