Pablo Picasso and the Cubist revolution

In the 1910s, an avant-garde movement changed arts forever. Cubism freed itself from the classic norms of painting, finally treating abstraction as a subject. This evolution towards more conceptual works carried a certain rejection of figuration that would eventually give birth to contemporary art. Behind this upheaval: Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. The latter, whose career spanned over 7 decades, established himself as one of the most important artists of the 20th century. His paintings are often melancholic, delivering a distorted, emotional perspective on familiar scenes. Among his most celebrated works, Guernica (1937) is a dark chronicle of the Spanish Civil War. Another, The Promenade of Colombus (1917), testifies of the painter’s attachment to Barcelona. When Pablo Picasso died in France, in 1973, he left behind a colossal body of work, including over 1,800 paintings, 12,000 sketches and drawings, as well as thousands of sculptures and ceramics.

This honorable family business was established in 1871, with its looms now located in Flanders, nearby Lille. Most of our tapestries are made using the point Jacquard technique, but some also use point de Loiselles. Rest assured that, from design to finishes, a very special care is given to each step of the manufacturing process. What you see is what you get: a true traditional French tapestry. And while our products are delicate, they’re just as resistant: you’ll clean them with a simple vacuum cleaner.
