Versailles tapestry “second hand
This hanging is a reproduction of the famous suite of twelve tapestries called “Les Maisons royales” designed by Charles Le Brun from 1619 to 1690, created to the glory of King Louis XIV. These tapestries were produced over several years up to the beginning of the 18th century at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins.
They depict the sovereign, his residences, his entertainments and, more generally, the pomp of his court. Here, the tapestry depicts Louis XIV hunting in the grounds of the Château de Versailles. The tapestry is woven in Loiselles cotton on jacquard looms in a factory in northern France. A certificate of authenticity is affixed to the back of the tapestry. This tapestry belongs to a private individual who wishes to sell it. It is in very good condition.
