Description

The Annunciation of Cortona was painted by Fra Angelico in 1433-1434, in tempera on panel measuring 175 cm x 180 cm. It is one of Fra Angelico’s three Annunciations on canvas. This painting is the main panel of a polyptych, which includes a multi-panel predella of scenes from the Life of the Virgin identical to the Annunciazione di San Giovanni Valdarno: – Wedding of the Virgin, – Adoration of the Magi, – Presentation in the Temple, – Dormition.
